Collection: Intercoolers

On a supercharged ski, the intercooler cools compressed air coming off the blower before it reaches the engine. Cooler air is denser air, which means more power and less risk of detonation. When an intercooler gets restricted with salt scale or corrodes internally, you lose top-end power and run hotter for no obvious reason.

Saltwater riders should pay attention here. Intercoolers corrode from the inside out, and a pinhole leak lets water into the intake tract — which is how a boost problem turns into a hydrolocked engine. If your supercharged Sea-Doo or Kawasaki has lost top end and the supercharger checks out, pressure-test the intercooler before you chase anything else.

Flushing thoroughly after every saltwater ride is the single best thing you can do to make one last.
