Collection: Impeller Boots
The impeller boot, sometimes called the driveshaft boot or bellows, seals and protects the driveshaft where it passes between the engine compartment and the pump. It keeps water out of the hull and keeps grit off the shaft and splines.
Boots are rubber, and rubber has a service life. A split or perished boot lets water into the hull and lets sand into the driveshaft splines, which accelerates wear on far more expensive parts. Inspect it whenever the pump is off — look for cracking at the flex points and any hardening of the material.
Cheap part, easy replacement while you are already in there, and it prevents a much larger repair down the line.
