Sea-Doo & Yamaha Fault Codes: Full Diagnostic Code Lookup (Searchable)
Share
Your Sea-Doo or Yamaha throws a beep, a blinking light, or drops into limp-home mode — and you're left guessing. The ski already knows what's wrong: it stores a fault code you can read yourself. Type your code in the box below to jump straight to what it means, or scroll the full tables by brand. This is the master reference we use on the bench at EverythingJetSki — every Sea-Doo and Yamaha WaveRunner diagnostic code in one place.
How to read the code off your ski
Sea-Doo (4-TEC digital gauge): press MODE to step through the information center, toggle to the Fault Codes screen, and press SET to show the stored code(s). Codes look like P0117, B2210, or C2100. Older carbureted 2-strokes (587, 717, 787, 951) don't store codes this way. For a full read or reset you'll want BUDS/CanDoo.
Yamaha WaveRunner: newer EFI skis show a numeric diagnostic code on the multifunction display (or through Yamaha Diagnostic System, YDS). Yamaha codes are short numbers — 29, 62, 15 — and the meaning can shift by model year and ECU (OX66 vs. later HO/SVHO). Always confirm against the machine's service manual before condemning a part.

Before you replace anything: a fault code points to a circuit, not always a broken part. Check the cheap stuff first — blown fuses, corroded or unplugged connectors, chafed wiring, and actual fluid levels. Swapping a $3 fuse beats buying a $60 sensor you never needed.

Descriptions are condensed to the core meaning; Sea-Doo codes are based on the 2011 GTI service manual and shop experience, and Yamaha codes vary by year and ECU. A code identifies a circuit, not a guaranteed failed part — always confirm with a visual inspection and a BUDS/CanDoo or YDS scan before replacing expensive components.
