Trailer Couplers

Trailer couplers, coupler latches, and replacement components for PWC trailers.

The coupler is the single connection between your trailer and your vehicle. It is also a wear item — the latch mechanism and the socket both wear with use, and a worn coupler can pop off a ball on a hard bump even when the latch appears closed.

Check for excessive play between coupler and ball, a latch that does not close firmly, and any cracking around the throat. Replace on any sign of deformation rather than trying to adjust it out. Match coupler size to your ball — 1-7/8 inch and 2 inch are the common sizes and they are not interchangeable, no matter how close they look.

Always cross your safety chains under the coupler so they cradle it if it ever releases.
