PWC exhaust runs wet. Cooling water is routed through the exhaust system to drop temperature and quiet the engine, which means every hose, coupler, gasket, and clamp in the system is a potential water leak into your hull.

Rubber exhaust couplers are a known wear item. They harden, crack, and eventually split — usually at the clamp line where you cannot see it without pulling the hose. If you are finding water in the hull and the carbon seal checks out, work through the exhaust connections next. On older 2-strokes especially, replacing tired exhaust rubber during a top-end job is cheap insurance while everything is already apart.
