The drive system is everything between the engine and the pump — driveshafts, couplers, bearing housings, bellows, boots, and dampers. It transmits every bit of engine torque, and it is unforgiving of misalignment.
Most driveline problems present as vibration. A vibration that appears under acceleration and scales with RPM usually points at the driveshaft, coupler, or a worn damper. Vibration combined with repeat carbon seal failure almost always means alignment — and alignment problems usually start with collapsed motor mounts, not with the driveline parts themselves.
